What is Geometry?
Geometry is concerned with questions of shape, size, the relative position of figures, and the properties of space.

What is a Dimension?
shape to particular measurements. A measurable extent of a particular kind, such as length, breadth, depth, or height.
It is the number given to an object in the Proper unit. and It is an Information to Manufacturer.

Why need Dimension for geometry?
As we know it is very difficult to manufacture the component to an exact size because of the limitations of
 men, machines and materials.
As we know it is very difficult to manufacture the component to an exact size because of the limitations of Men, machines, and materials.

What is Tolerance?
The permissible variation in the basic size (dimension) is called Tolerancing.

Basic Dimension/size :
Is the theoretical size of a part obtained by design calculation . Usually a whole number.
Also called:
        Nominal dimension

Actual Dimension /Size :
The size of a part obtained by measuring it. It is never equal to the basic size, but it will be either larger or smaller than the basic size.

The system of Tolerance Specification.
Bilateral
Unilateral
Limits method

Tolerance Specification:  Bi + lateral
Bilateral: The tolerance is allowed on both sides of the of the nominal size

Tolerance Specification: Uni + lateral
Unilateral: The tolerance is allowed one side of the nominal size.

Limits method: Tolerance values are added with the basic size of the part.

The standard of GD&T is ASME Y14.5 - 2009
